Dolphin and Whale Watching Tours

Join us for Dolphin Watching, and snorkeling on our boat the La Sirena.

The La Sirena boat is owned and operated by Cabinas Jimenez. The Golfo Dulce tours are famous around town, and you’re almost guaranteed to see dolphins on each tour.

Kayaking

One of our most popular tours (after the La Sirena Adventure Boat Tour) is a Kayak excursion. And best of all – we offer free kayaks at Cabinas Jimenez to our guests!

Paddle through the mangrove channels and learn about this wonderful eco system. This guided tour is three hours of exploration and relaxation on the beach.

There is also a sunset tour offered. Advanced reservations are required through our front desk.

Canopy Zip-Line

Go Canopy Zip Lining near Puerto Jimenez. Just a short exciting drive out of town you can enjoy the ride of your life with spectacular views of the Primary rainforest.

This tour is a must!

Cabo Matapalo

At the south end of the Osa Peninsula Just 18 kilometers from Cabinas Jimenez or a 30 min drive, lies Cabo Matapalo, close to which are several stunningly beautiful coves and beaches set in very wet tropical forest, home to several species of birds, monkeys and other animals. Waterfalls and other natural features make exploring the rich biodiversity a delight. A guided day hike in Matapalo a great way to see LOTS of wildlife, waterfalls and amazing surfing beaches, not to mention a few COOL bars!

Surfing

You can also go surfing on the Osa Peninsula – The beaches popular with surfers include Playa Matapalo, Playa Backwash and Playa Pan Dulce, all of which offer excellent conditions for this sport. You may also get a boat ride over to Playa Pavones with one of the longest left breaks in the world!

Osa Wildlife Sanctuary

We also offer a visit to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary, which can only be reached by boat.

Fundacion Santuario Silvestre de Osa is a local non-profit organization wholly committed to providing wildlife rescue through professional care and offer rehabilitation for orphaned, injured and displaced animals indigenous to the Southern zone of Costa Rica.

 

Chocolate Tour

Tour of a working Chocolate Plantation either “Finca Kobo” or “Finca Raices” which is just a 15-20 min drive through the countryside from Puerto Jimenez, and a must see for those who are interested in the areas’ diverse agriculture and culture.

Reservations are required for this tour.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is another great way to spend a few hours! Riding through the jungle and on the beach is a great way to see all the local color and lots of wildlife.

Both self guided and guided tours are available and affordable in Puerto Jimenez.

 

Visit the Caimans and Crocodiles

This is a free self guided tour! Within walking distance from the hotel you can see wild Caimans and Crocodiles.

They are not big crocks but they’re still very cool to watch.

Check them out and ask us about them during your stay.

 

Sportfishing

Private charter fishing boats from 25 to 50 feet are available with experienced captains and mates.

We can arrange both half and full day fishing trips.

Just ask us during your reservation or upon arrival at the hotel.

 

Whale Watching

Whale watching season is July through December here in the Gulfo Dulce. Humpback whales come here to calf and play.

Whale shark watching season is at the end of December & January here in the Gulfo Dulce. Whale sharks are rare and gift to experience.
